About the author
I am a PhD in Social Anthropology, within the Environmental Humanities - South Project at the University of Cape Town, in South Africa. I hold two bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching and Anthropology from Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique, a master's degree in Environmental Science from Linköping University, in Sweden and currently doing my second year of master's degree in Digital Humanities at Linnaeus University also in Sweden.
My PhD thesis was on Environmental and Ecological Justice in Mozambique, focusing specifically on Mount Mabo and the residents that live around and with the mountain. My research interests include climate change policy and science, militarization of conservation, green grabbing, indigenous knowledges, commons, water-energy-food nexus, and digital humanities. This blog is a natural expansion of my PhD thesis and seeks to gather and document the various ecopolitical struggles people in Mozambique and the southern Africa region in general are engaged with in their daily lives in the context of growing neoliberal and neo-extractive projects and nature conservation.
